MY EXPERIENCE & IMPRESSION 我的經驗和印象
Truedan is a new addition to the Skyline Plaza in Daly City (near Ranch 99). Its soft-opening will last for 1 week from 10/11-10/17. During the soft-opening week, they are offering a Buy-One-Get One (BOGO) deal to the first 100 customers every day when you check into Truedan through social media (Facebook, Instagram or Yelp).
I was able to check out Truedan on their second day of soft-opening. I arrived at 11:10am and saw the store was still closed with no line so I decided to walk around. I came back around 11:40am and there were 20 customers in front of me. When the store was about to open at noon, some of the staff members came out to make sure everyone was maintaining 6 feet apart by putting tape on the ground.
After waiting for 1 hour, I was able to reach the front of the line but the store only allow 4 customers within the store at one time. The store itself is not too big with simple decorations and some benches that are not available for seating. When you first enter the store, you can see the display of a local artist's art work to the right. The wooden plaque with Truedan's Chinese name is displayed the the left.
When it was my turn to order, I really enjoyed my experience because the cashier was friendly and patience. He explained that only 5 drinks are available to choose from during the soft-opening. More drink options and customization will be available after soft-opening. Also, they will allow each person to order a a maximum of 4 drinks for the BOGO deal. I decided to order 4 drinks with 50% sugar and ice. The total after the BOGO discount was $14.33 with tax. After paying, the cashier told me to check out the yelp goodies on the table and then wait outside for the number to be called. Overall, the line does move pretty slow because it was already12:50pm after I ordered my drinks. Fortunately, the wait time to get the drinks was pretty fast because it only took about 7 minutes for my number to display on the screen.

| (1) Mango Ice with Coconut Milk & Agar Jelly (M) $6.75 This drink was similar to a fresh mango puree slushy on the top with large pieces of agar jelly. It stayed cold and refreshing so great drink on a hot summer day. (2) Thai Tea Latte (L) $6.75 This drink was ok. Not too impressive especially with the price. (3) Fresh Milk with Brown Sugar Boba & Creama (M) $6.00 The drink was creamy with fragrant brown sugar coating the boba. The boba was relatively fresh and chewy. (4) Fresh Milk with Brown Sugar & Fresh Taro ((L) $6.75 The drink had a strong taro flavor because they put a lot of fresh taro paste in the drink. I couldn't really taste the brown sugar due to the strong taro flavor. If you like taro, you will enjoy this drink. |
