Marugame Udon (丸亀製麺) at Stonestown Galleria San Francisco has finally reopened since shelter in place took place back in March.  But, it is only available for take out only.  If you've been to Marugame Udon before, you will notice they have new limited time seasonal items added to the menu on a regular basis.  Since the reopening of Marguame Udon, they have released a new and updated menu.  Surprisingly, the 4 new items added are not udon related.  Take a look at the new menu below!

MY EXPERIENCE & IMPRESSION 我的經驗和印象

When you walk into Marugrame, you will see a U-shaped setup with extra tables and chairs put aside to the left of the restaurant.  At the first long table near the main entrance, you will see several menus placed on it for customers to use.  When you are ready to order, just walk up to the cashier and pay.  After paying, you will walk to the left side of the restaurant with the red arrows and wait for the staff.  The staff will pack the foods for you and then call out your name.  If there are not too many people, the staff will let you wait inside.  But, if it gets crowded, they will ask you to wait out at the outdoor seating area to maintain 6 feet social distance.

Since Marugrame reopened end of May, I have visited it twice.  Both times, I walked-in and place the order with the cashier.  From placing the order to getting the foods, I had to wait about 30 minutes.  If you are ordering hot udon, be careful of the paper lid container holding the soup because it is easy to spill if the container becomes tilted.  Also, the soup is quite hot.  If the plastic containers holding the condiments are placed next to the soup, it can get melted.  

自從丸亀制麺於5月底重新開放，我已經去了兩次。這兩次，我都是走進去並與收銀員下單。從下單到拿外賣，我等了大約30分鐘。如果您要訂購熱烏冬，請注意裝有湯的紙蓋。因為如果容器傾斜，湯會很容易流出來。還有湯很熱，如果調味品放在湯的旁邊調味品的塑料容器可能會融化。

Instead of walking-in to order at the restaurant, I highly recommend that you place the order over the phone.  Then, come pick it up at the restaurant or use order delivery apps such as Doordash or UberEats to have it deliver to your house if you are craving for fresh made udon.
